Arch Insurance Group, a division of Bermuda-based Arch Capital Group, has named Robert Van Gieson as president and CEO of its UK operation, Arch Capital UK.
Based in Arch's London office, Mr Van Gieson will report to Ralph Jones, the president and CEO of Arch Insurance Group. The appointment is effective from 1 September 2003.
Prior to joining Arch, Mr Van Gieson oversaw 2,500 staff as CEO of CNA's Global Operations and senior vice president of CNA Financial. He was responsible for directing the successful integration of six non-aligned strategic business units with total revenue of $1.25bn.
Prior to this, Mr Van Gieson was the chairman and CEO of Chubb Insurance Co Europe, a position he held from 1990 to 1996.
