Ian Thompson has been appointed head of motor operations at Royal & SunAlliance.

Thompson will begin his new role on 3 April. He has worked at R&SA for the past 12 years.

In the newly created position, Thompson will have responsibility for all aspects of R&SA's motor supply chain business including group motor engineers, quality repair centres (QRCs) and direct repair centres (DRCs). This follows a reorganisation of the insurer's supply chain management following the appointment of Nigel Fleet as supply chain director in September 2005.

Fleet said: "Ian brings significant experience, having worked in a wide number of areas including risk, strategy, change and corporate ventures. I have no doubt that his broad experience, combined with his extensive market knowledge, will benefit the business and augment and secure our market position at the forefront of claims customer service delivery."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
