Arch Insurance International has promoted Barbara Rizzi from head of third-party claims to chief claims officer.

In her new role, Rizzi will be responsible for leading the claims function and strategy of Arch Insurance International.

Areas she will focus on include the London market, UK regional market, Australia and the EU.

Based in London, she will report to Kirsten Valder, deputy chief executive of Arch Insurance International.

Valder said: “I am sure that under Barbara’s leadership, we will continue to deliver and enhance our solution-focused and relationship-driven claims service.”

Experience

Rizzi joined Arch in 2013 and held several senior positions before moving into her most recent role as head of third party claims.

Prior to joining Arch, she worked for various law firms, including Clyde and Co LLP and Kennedys Law LLP, specialising in insurance law.

Rizzi is also a qualified solicitor in England, Wales and Italy.

Valder added: “Barbara is a highly respected leader and claims practitioner with deep legal and technical claims expertise.

“Over the past decade, she has played an integral role in elevating Arch’s claims performance and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering a positive claims experience for our customers and brokers.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
