’Ardonagh is a business that shares our high ambition,’ says managing director of acquired firm

Ardonagh Advisory has formally welcomed high net worth (HNW) broker Stanhope Cooper and MGA Renovation Underwriting to the business after acquiring a majority shareholding in parent firm N&W Intvestments earlier this year (25 April 2023).

Founded in 2006, Petersfield-based Stanhope Cooper provides expert insurance and risk management advice to HNW private clients and business owners.

Under the management of managing director William Cooper, the firm has grown through a series of M&A deals and organic growth.

Cooper will continue to lead Stanhope Cooper as it becomes part of the the Ardonagh Advisory platform and will provide support to the growing HNW arm of the broker.

He commented: “Ardonagh is a business that shares our high ambition and we are already beginning to see how we can collaborate to bring even greater opportunities for both businesses.”

N&W Investments also owns the businesses Insurance Tailors and Porterhouse Brokers.

Renovation Underwriting

Meanwhile, Renovation Underwriting, which maintains offices in both London and Cambridgeshire, specialises in insurance coverage for private client contract works and high-value projects.

The company was founded by managing director Douglas Brown, who will continue at the helm of the company as it becomes part of Ardonagh’s UK Commercial MGA.

In addition to his role as the head of the company, Douglas will also take up a leadership position on the Commercial MGA executive committee, with chief executive Jaime Swindle serving as its overseer.

Brown commented: “The partnership with Ardonagh enables Renovation Underwriting to expand into new but related areas, allowing meaningful growth to be maintained.”

The confirmation of the completion of these deals follows Ardonagh’s acquisition spree of Sorvio, MS Insurance Solutions, PB Curran and Sentinel Insurance Solutions within a week last month earlier this year (5–10 July 2023).
