’This renewal is a significant endorsement of a partnership that has delivered for brokers and customers for more than 20 years,’ says managing director
Aviva and Q Underwriting have renewed their long-standing commercial motor partnership for a further five years in a deal worth approximately £200m in gross written premium (GWP).

The agreement, which renewed on 30 September, extends a relationship that has served brokers and customers for more than 20 years and reinforces both companies’ commitment to the specialist commercial motor market.
The partnership supports Q Underwriting’s Q motor scheme, which provides cover across a range of specialist sectors including single vehicle taxi, taxi fleet, truck and motor trader insurance.
The renewal also strengthens Aviva’s wider strategic relationship with PIB Group, which Q Underwriting is part of, reflecting a shared focus on specialist underwriting expertise, long-term partnerships and sustainable growth.
Mike Hudson, managing director at Q Underwriting, said: “This renewal is a significant endorsement of a partnership that has delivered for brokers and customers for more than 20 years.
”Aviva’s strength, reputation and long-standing support complement our specialist underwriting expertise and deep understanding of niche commercial motor risks.
”By continuing to work closely on underwriting strategy, pricing and risk selection, we can give our broker partners access to a high quality, sustainable proposition in an increasingly competitive market. We are delighted to extend the relationship for a further five years and look forward to building on our shared success.”
Competitive market
The deal comes at a time when parts of the commercial motor market, particularly the taxi sector, remain highly competitive.

Despite these conditions, Aviva and Q Underwriting said they have continued to grow the scheme through a disciplined underwriting approach, pricing expertise and a focus on attracting high quality risks.
Rebecca Gambrell, managing director for SME and delegated authorities at Aviva, said: ”We work closely together on pricing, underwriting strategy and risk selection, combining our respective strengths to create a compelling proposition in the market.
”Aviva brings scale, expertise, innovation and strong broker relationships, while Q Underwriting contributes deep specialist knowledge and a thorough understanding of the commercial motor sector. This renewal is testament to the strength and success of our partnership and we look forward to continuing to grow and develop the relationship over the next five years.”
