‘My role is about understanding clients’ businesses, helping them manage risk and ensuring they have insurance solutions that reflect their changing needs,’ says account executive
Independent broker TL Dallas has appointed John Loran as an account executive in its Glasgow office as it continues to expand its commercial presence across Scotland.

Loran joins the broker with 18 years’ experience in the insurance sector, having previously worked in commercial insurance, client relationship management and business development.
He began his career with independent broker FJ Wilson before moving to Scotland a decade ago, where he held a range of roles with JMG Group, including branch management.
In his new role, Loran will support TL Dallas’ existing commercial clients while identifying new business opportunities across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, wholesale, retail, hospitality and professional services.
Loran said joining an independent broker with a strong focus on client relationships was a key factor in his decisions to move to TL Dallas.
“My role is about understanding clients’ businesses, helping them manage risk and ensuring they have insurance solutions that reflect their changing needs,” he said.
Scotland growth
Loran added that cyber risk, underinsurance and rising claims costs remain key challenges for UK businesses, making regular reviews of insurance arrangements increasingly important.

He said: “Regular in-person reviews of insurance arrangements are more important than ever to ensure businesses have the right protection.”
Tim Mackenzie, client director at TL Dallas, said Loran’s appointment strengthened the broker’s commercial capability in Scotland.
“Loran brings significant commercial insurance experience, strong technical knowledge and a relationship-led approach that aligns perfectly with our values,” he said.
