Olivia Rossdale, commercial director at Sky Protect, talks about how the company’s innovation in home insurance led them to enter the Challenger of the Year (Insurtech) Award
Why did you want to enter the Challenger of the Year (Insurtech) Award category?
Sky Protect Smart Home Insurance entered the insurtech category as it is an innovative service combining comprehensive home insurance and smart home technology.
Home insurance can be a grudge purchase for many and we think customers deserve better, which is why Sky Protect offers something different. We offer the customer clear and easy to understand home insurance with a quote in only 60 seconds.
We then offer the customer smart home technology with their five star home insurance product, which enables them to stay connected to home, keep an eye on what is going on and help prevent small issues before they become big problems.
What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
Sky Protect Smart Home Insurance brings a new and exciting proposition to the home insurance sector. No one else is offering it, certainly not with such a comprehensive suite of smart security devices that a customer can engage with every day.
The smart home technology connects customers to their homes and allows them to see their Smart Home Insurance working for them 24/7 in the Sky Protect app.
Whether it’s viewing important insurance policy documents, checking the feed from their cameras at any time, or getting access to home emergency help, we think this is an insurance product that actually offers value every day rather than something you forget about until point of claim or renewal.
We think we should win the award because we have challenged the market, with a product that is really on the customers side, changing the way they engage with their insurer every day to help look after their home.
What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning the award would be a hugely exciting and rewarding accolade. Despite only being on the market for around six months, Sky has taken significant market share amongst insurance providers in the UK.
