Poonam Sejpal, global risk lead at Zego, talks about what makes their Challenger of the Year (Insurtech) Award entry stand out from the rest

Why did you want to enter the Challenger of the Year (Insurtech) Award category?

We entered this category as we felt our product and value proposition is different to any other in the market.

By launching our BBI product, it enabled customers to achieve up to an additional 15% within their premium whilst still reducing their annual premium cost. We used three key metrics that we believed were the main contributors for performance and success.

We wanted to change the narrative of how insurers are deemed by fleet customers and ensure that they knew we were here to support them.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

What makes us stand out in this entry is our genuine dedication to change, support and fairness in the insurance industry, which is not easy to do.

Being different and trying new things comes with a risk, however, we chose to operate in segments that were deemed challenging by others and often not priced fairly.

We have proven success with our product, which is why we feel we should win this award.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would mean that the efforts, investment and time spent on creating this over the past two years with a proven track record has been an achievement recognised within the insurance industry.

It would mean that other insurers may start to look at their offering and change the way in which they view these risks.
