This is one of three new appointments for the global loss adjuster

Global loss adjuster McLarens has appointed Mark Simmons as its new head of construction and engineering for the UK and Ireland.

Simmons is a dual qualified adjuster and surveyor with more than 30 years of industry experience, specifically in handling complex contractors all risks (CAR) and erection all risks (EAR) cases, machinery breakdowns, non-negligence cover and third-party losses.

Simmons, who previously worked as head of construction and engineering at loss adjusting and risk surveying business Advanta, replaces Peter Scott, who will move into a new role as construction and engineering technical lead.

In his new position, Simmons will be responsible for McLarens’s entire construction and engineering portfolio across 21 offices in the UK and Ireland.

Building the team

Joining Simmons at McLarens are construction and engineering loss adjusters Blue Newton and Sean Gregory; the three new hires will be based at the firm’s London office.

The appointments aim to strengthen McLarens’s London offering, alongside the organisation’s construction and engineering hub in Manchester, to ensure a comprehensive footprint across the UK.

Both Newton and Gregory were also previously at Advanta; Newton has past experience as a geotechnical consulting engineer while Gregory has 20 years of loss adjusting expertise.

The expanded London team will additionally operate alongside McLarens’s London market natural resources practice, to provide joint solutions for the energy and renewables sector.

Steven Wallace, managing director, UK and Ireland, said: “We are continuing to invest in our technical offering to support the growth of our specialist practices across the UK and Ireland, and I’m delighted to welcome Mark, Blue and Sean to the team.

“Mark is a genuine leader in this market and alongside Peter’s wealth of experience, will support the continued growth and success of our C&E specialist practice.”
