’The investment being made in the team and proposition demonstrates a clear commitment to developing a strong and sustainable PI offering for brokers,’ says appointee
MGA Folgate Underwriting Agency (FUAl) has appointed Terry Shaw as chief underwriting officer for regional professional indemnity (PI).

Shaw joins the business with more than 30 years of insurance experience spanning both the London and regional markets.
He arrives from Aqueous, where he spent 11 years and most recently served as head of PI. Prior to that, Shaw held senior positions with CNA Hardy and began his career in the London market with QBE and Lockton.
In his new role, Shaw will oversee FUAL’s regional PI portfolio and work alongside Paul Freeman, chief underwriting officer for UK and international PI, to further develop the business and strengthen broker relationships across both regional and London market channels.
Shaw said: “I’m delighted to be joining FUAL at such an exciting time for the PI business.
”The investment being made in the team and proposition demonstrates a clear commitment to developing a strong and sustainable PI offering for brokers.”
Investment programme
The appointment forms part of a broader investment programme within Folgate’s PI division, which has undergone significant expansion over the past year.

FUAL said the addition of Shaw will help bring together complementary expertise across its regional and London market operations, enabling the business to offer a broader range of PI propositions across different professions and territories.
Freeman said: “Shaw is a fantastic addition to our PI leadership team. His expertise will be a real asset to our regional business.
”Having Shaw lead our regional PI book alongside our London market capabilities gives us a strong and complementary proposition, enabling us to offer brokers a broader range of PI solutions across multiple professions and territories.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
