This first acquisition of 2022 further underlines SRG’s commitment to ’become the natural home for specialists’

Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has made its first buy of 2022 with commercial and motor trade broker, Hamilton Leigh Insurance Brokers.

Founded in 1987 and based in Herefordshire, independent broker Hamilton Leigh has expertise in motor trade and technology sectors. It will continue leadership under its managing director, Lee Cohen and operations director, Jill Hamilton.

Meanwhile the Hamilton Leigh team will join SRG’s retail division – Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions (SRIS), which doubled in sized last year.

Warren Downey, SRG’s group chief executive said: “We are thrilled to welcome Cohen, Hamilton and the Hamilton Leigh team to SRG.

“When we created SRG, we said that we would follow specialism wherever it took us, and Hamilton Leigh epitomises the type of business that will thrive within our group. They are clearly specialists, ambitious and this will be a fantastic cultural fit for both teams.”

The deal is still subject to regulatory approval.

Clear vision

The latest acquisition further demonstrates SRG’s commitment to become the natural home for specialists.

The Hamilton Leigh deal is the latest in a long line of SRG acquisitions, which include KBIS, The Channel Partnership, David Codling and Associates.

In January 2022, SRG started the year by acquiring Bridge Insurance’s London-based special risks team.

Lee Anderson, SRG’s group deputy chief executive added: “Hamilton Leigh is another fantastic addition to SRIS, providing new areas of deep specialism, supported by a team of genuine experts in the motor trade and technology sectors.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Lee and Jill throughout the deal process and I look forward to working with them as we continue to grow and enhance our specialist capabilities”.

Meanwhile, Lee Cohen, managing director at Hamilton Leigh said: “Despite approaches from many other potential buyers, we felt great synergy with SRG in regard to where we wanted to take the business. SRG has a clear vision for the future, which entails being the home for specialist businesses.

“Being part of the group allows us to offer a much broader range of services that brings tangible benefits to our clients. It was also evident that SRG offered the right cultural fit for our team by providing them with an environment where they can develop and maximise their full potential.”
