Optio said the move would support its next chapter as it continues to expand its specialist underwriting capabilities, broaden its product offering and grow its international presence.

Then, Partners& acquired Bedford-based insurance broker M&DH as it continues to grow its presence in the SME market.

Founded in 2002, M&DH specialises in the construction and manufacturing sectors and employs more than 70 people. The business will become a regional hub for Partners& across the Northern Home Counties.

After that, Amiga Specialty agreed to acquire the exclusive renewal rights to Volante International’s professional indemnity (PI) portfolio.

The move follows Volante placing Lloyd’s Syndicate 1699 into run-off earlier this year, with the new deal aiming to provide continuity for existing policyholders and brokers.

Finally, sources told Insurance Times that they believe Canadian firm Intact Financial Corporation could soon make a move for Hiscox as part of its expansion plans.

While the two firms might complement each other, news editor James Cowen looked at whether it would be the right move for Intact and Hiscox.
