Williams, who previously held the position as UK retail chief executive, will lead the commercial agenda across the group in his new role and focus on accelerating growth opportunities, strengthening client propositions and enhancing commercial execution.

Next, The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) appointed Bspoke Group’s Tim Smyth as its new chairman, succeeding Charles Manchester.

Then, Hiscox appointed Aparna Sarin to the newly created role of group chief marketing and revenue officer.

Hiscox said that the creation of the role – which will sit on the firm’s executive committee – reflects its “focus on accelerating disciplined retail growth” and will strengthen the connection between its specialist propositions and the “right customers and distribution channels”.

There was also news of a departure this week as Axa UK’s marketing and broker development director Alasdair Stewart announced that he had decided to retire after 15 years with the insurer.

Stewart joined Axa UK in 2011 as marketing and communication director, holding the role for four years before stepping up to his latest position.

Finally, Lockton appointed Matt Kendle as head of its newly established construction and design practice.

Joining from Marsh, where he led its international construction sector offering, Kendle’s appointment follows Lockton’s strategic decision earlier this year to consolidate its construction-related teams from across the business into a single practice.
