Founded in 1972 by managing director Rob Pountney, and now run by his son, Murton Alexander is one of the longest serving independent insurance brokers in Swansea, Wales.

The insurance company’s team of five, which specialises in commercial and personal lines insurance - with an additional focus on taxi cover - will transfer along with its associated books into Towergate’s existing Swansea office, led by area director Gary Stevens.

Expanding expertise

Considering the new acquisition, Towergate wishes to expand its local footprint, expertise and reach in Great Britain’s southwest country.

Stevens said: “Rob and his team are well known as specialist local brokers, with a wealth of knowledge of the Swansea community, which combined with our existing team will help us meet the ever-changing needs of more local clients, with their insurance and risk management requirements.

“This acquisition also marks an exciting opportunity to strengthen our existing taxi specialism, building on our capabilities, relationships and knowledge.”

Pountney added: “Towergate prides itself on delivering a high-quality service with a local, community focused touch, which is something that we strive to deliver to our customers.

“I see this as a great opportunity to come together to build our presence in Wales and also to tap into the strength and stature of the Towergate brand, its proposition and insurer relationships, to collectively build more long-standing relationships with customers and deliver great outcomes together.”
