Nine mechanical engineering adjusters are to leave GAB Robins and join a competitor, the company announced.

Chief executive officer John Castagno said: “I understand that the movement of staff between firms in any industry, particularly fee earning industries, is inevitable.

“However, when this involves up to 40% increases in basic pay to lure staff, I am not prepared to compete in view of the impact on our customers with escalating costs.”

GAB said its construction and engineering team retained 22 qualified engineers able to offer a range of adjusting services. The company said it remained highly committed to the market and was continuing to actively recruit.
