Advances in genetics will force the private medical insurance (PMI) system to shut down, according to a leading British cancer researcher.
Nobel prize-winning scientist Sir Paul Nurse, who jointly heads the charity Cancer Research UK said private insurers would not be able to deal with the predictive power of genetics. An expanded version of the NHS would be the
only option.
"I think the insurance system for individuals will simply go defunct. I think we should look much more to society taking responsibility for its individuals," he said.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
