Peoples Choice is offering free fire and theft cover on new Christmas technology purchases to drivers who call for a motor quote during November.

Drivers will receive 30 days' cover for items such as computers, digital television equipment and scanners bought between December 1 and January 31. The maximum claim allowed is £2,500, with a single item limited to £1,000.

Peoples Choice managing director Philip da Silva said technology items bought or received as gifts were often not covered under existing household insurance.
