Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has announced a major re-structure of its commercial business.
The changes include transferring R&SA's Personal General & Brand Broker business into a single division with Commercial, led by Brendan McManus.
The new division will be known simply as ‘Broker'.
Responsibility for the SME direct insurance arm MORE TH>N Business transfers the opposite way, to be part of the overall MORE TH>N portfolio led by Adrian Brown.
R&SA said in order to implement these changes, McManus has announced a re-organisation of his division's structure and management to distinguish more clearly between sales and operations.
These changes will also create sales director roles organised around customer groups, rather than industry sectors.
Sales directors will be appointed to run three separate sections:
A new role of trading director will be created with the responsibility for designing and developing new propositions across all three channels.
Mike Canniffe, previously director of corporate business, has been appointed as chief operations officer.
The company said the selection process for the global broker sales director and the trading director is underway, and these appointments will be announced in due course.
R&SA said intends that these changes will achieve significant inroads in its plans to increase broker business.
Brendan McManus, managing director of R&SA's Broker division, said: “R&SA's Personal and Commercial teams have been working increasingly closely together with brokers over the past 18 months, so it's the next logical step to move to an integrated broker relationship structure with single points of contact."
