Representatives from Biba and the ABI will meet to "run an eye over" Biba's proposed service standards, with a view to implementing the standards across the industry.

The meeting comes in response to pressure from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to improve service to policyholders, as revealed by Insurance Times on 1 May.

Biba chief executive Mike Williams said a date had not been set for the meeting, but he was confident that the talks would lead to the adoption of the service standards, which have been designed in conjunction with Biba's member insurers.

"I'd be very, very surprised and very, very disappointed if it didn't," he said.

One area the OFT is particularly concerned about is the early issue of renewal notices.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
