Anna Kournikova's appearance at Wimbledon this week is expected to lead to an upswing in tennis-related injuries as fans copy their Centre Court idols.

The most common tennis injuries, such as damaged tendons or tennis elbow, can leave motorists unable to drive for weeks at a time.

However, Longford Insurance Schemes, providers of mobility protection insurance, said brokers can net vital commission if they pay attention to their game.

John Bull, director of Longford, said the insurer receives more claims related to personal injury than theft or vandalism to cars, or licence endorsements for speeding.

He added that this growing sports market provides a golden opportunity to brokers. Longford's commission is 20% on its Chauffeurplan product.
