Stuart Bernau, commercial and communications director of Nationwide Building Society, has been appointed chairman of the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC).
Stuart succeeds Legal & General's Sir David Prosser, who retired earlier this year.
Commenting on his appointment, Bernau said: “As a knowledge-based business, financial services is absolutely dependent on the skills of its workforce to achieve success and I see my role as helping to push skills issues to the very top of the industry's agenda.”
