Petplan is offering an "insurance amnesty" to enable policyholders with a 12-month claim limit with other insurers to transfer to its Cover for Life policy.

The amnesty, which will run until December 31, was developed after a Petplan survey showed that 38% of its claims were for conditions that lasted a year or longer.

Petplan spokesman Richard Barrett said many pet owners bought cheaper policies that only paid out for the first year of an illness or injury.

"After that, they just don't want to know," he said. "You may have saved a few pounds in the short term but could have ended up costing yourself a fortune later on."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
