Shivan S. Subramaniam, president and chief executive officer of commercial and industrial property insurer FM Global, has been elected to the additional post of chairman of the board by the board's directors.
Subramaniam succeeds John Luke, president and chief executive officer of MeadWestvaco, whose leadership, the company says, helped it "secure its position as a world-class property insurance organisation". Luke will continue serving as a director on the board.
Subramaniam became FM Global's president and chief executive officer in July 1999 as a result of the merger that formed the company.
He was formerly chairman, president and chief executive officer at Allendale Mutual Insurance Company.
