A Lloyd's broker is set to conquer the world's toughest footrace – the Marathon des Sables.

John Tsyzkiewicz, 38, of broker Guy Carpenter, a Marsh company, is trading in his pinstripe suit on April 9 to attempt the gruelling 220km race across the Sahara desert.

This will involve crossing the ankle-deep dunes of southern Morocco in temperatures of up to 49 degrees Celsius.

Tsyzkiewicz, a father of three and former army officer, will be raising money for both the NSPCC and Facing Africa.

He will be sponsored by insurer Kiln, which is providing him with personal accident and travel insurance.

Of the 500 or so competitors who take part each year, 30% are returnees who come back for a repeat run, having failed to complete the race on previous occasions.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
