Crowe Insurance Group's Motor Syndicate 963 has launched a screen-driven private car policy called Cig Ruby.

Syndicate deputy underwriter Kevin Feeley said the system was designed to help brokers faced with an ever-diminishing panel of insurers with whom to place new and existing business.

“Many of our brokers face the prospect of losing private car business simply because the number of insurers accepting risks from them has declined sharply during 2000,” Feeley said.

Cig Ruby will be available initially to Misys and Cheshire Data users, although Crowe plans to roll out the product to other software houses.

It will cover drivers between 25 and 70 and vehicles up to group 17, with reduced premiums for garaged vehicles, those with Thatcham category one security and vehicles used solely for social and domestic purposes.
