Talbot Underwriting said it had strengthened its underwriting team and management structure following a “substantial” growth in business for its Lloyd’s Syndicate 1183.
It has appointed Darren Redhead as deputy underwriter with immediate effect, it announced.
Redhead will assume greater responsibility for assisting underwriting director Rupert Atkin with the management of the non-marine classes of businesses. He will also deputise in Atkin’s absence, said Talbot.
It said Redhead’s responsibilities for the treaty class and ceded reinsurance programme remained unchanged.
In addition, Talbot said James Skinner’s role as marine deputy to Atkins for Syndicate 1138 had been formalised. Skinner will assume additional responsibility for the management of the marine class of business and deputise for Atkin in his absence.
Talbot said Syndicate 1183’s gross premium income had grown by over 50% during the last two years, to a planned income of £268m for 2004.
