Peter Cullum is climbing up the rich list.

The poor serfs toiling under-rewarded in the ranks of insurance – take heart.

This year’s Sunday Times Rich List, published at the weekend, was a shining beacon, a light at the end of the tunnel.

The country’s most famous insurance entrepreneur, Towergate executive chairman Peter Cullum, was number 40 on the list, with a staggering personal wealth of £1.7bn.

That’s more than five times as much as Madonna.

It got Backchat wondering what you could buy with that sort of money.

Norwich City, perhaps (or has Delia already done that)? RBSI..?

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
