Whist players get a raw deal
Another story about insurance getting in the way of harmless leisure activities from The Sun.
This time, a group of old people have been banned from playing whist at their sheltered housing complex unless they fork out for £2m of insurance cover.
The 14 friends aged 70 to 90, who have met every Friday for eight years in a communal room, now
have been told they must have public liability cover for players who are not residents at the complex
“How can you injure yourself playing whist?” questions one of the players.
The insurance would cost £250 a year.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
