Helen Liddell says the government is making it clear to the insurance industry that it cannot walk away from asbestosis. This is odd coming from the former economic secretary to the Treasury.
After all, the FSA allowed Chester Street to sell off Iron Trades without making sure it had the means to pay the long tail asbestosis claims. Moreover, the industry as a whole does not deserve to be tarnished because of the problems of one company.
