Insurers will start to challenge claims brought on a conditional fee basis, the Motoring Uninsured Loss Recoveries Association has warned.
MULRA chairman Paul Hurley said he expected success fees and the insurance premium in motor cases to become non-recoverable if solicitors did not make extensive checks for alternative means of funding the claim.
"Claims are still being accepted, hijacked, hived off or sold-on when pre-existing cover is in place," Hurley said. "Insurers aren't going to take this lying down."
