Stolen vehicle recovery system Tracker is closer to breaking into the Irish market, with the company optimistic it will be allocated a radio channel.

The system, which recovered £2.7m worth of vehicles across the UK last month, needs a channel to operate.

It is the only system to be used by UK police and is required as standard by a number of motor insurers.

It has been negotiating with the Irish Director of Telecommunication Regulation for the past three years.

But a spokesman said the talks had been stepped up in past few months.

"We seem to be making some progress, just not as quickly as we expected," he said.

"Any Irish insurer that's interested in the system can contact the office of the director to get more details on when it will be allowed into Ireland."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
