Young driver warning

Biba warned that suggestions from the Transport Select Committee for the insurance industry to reduce premiums for novice drivers could lead to increased premiums for claim-free drivers. The trade body said the higher cost of claims caused by young drivers should be reflected in their premiums. Biba is calling on the government to ensure greater awareness of the requirement for insurance and the consequences of un-insured driving.

Direct Line ad criticised

Insurancewide.com chief executive James Harrison has hit back at a Direct Line advertising campaign. Harrison said: “The word middleman suggests that customer will pay more for a policy if it’s bought through a comparison service. This is not the case.”
