Westinsure Anada has bought the first in what is planned to be a chain of brokerages covering the West Country.

Westinsure, formed recently through a merger of five brokers, purchased Brunsdon, Swindon, and Frilsons Insurance Brokers for an undisclosed sum on October 3.

The staff and business held by Frilsons, also in Swindon, will be merged with Brunsdon and the new company called Brunsdon Westinsure.

Westinsure now has independent brokerages in Chippenham, Falmouth, Newquay, Plymouth, Torquay, Totnes Truro, and Swindon.

Operations manager Martin Symonds said Westinsure planned to established an independent brokerage chain in the West Country.

However, he would not reveal plans for future acquisitions or the time scale involved.

The group, which has five founding members, handles general insurance with some financial services.
