CGNU has appointed 16 new divisional directors for its general insurance business – Norwich Union Insurance.

The senior managers will focus on claims, underwriting and broker services covering personal and commercial lines for the leading UK insurer. There is one vacancy still to be filled – director of communications and marketing services.

CGNU, which will start trading as one company on October 2, will consult a cross-section of brokers this week on its plans for integrating product range.

Patrick Snowball, managing director of NU, said it was committed to fully communicating its merger plans to brokers and to maintaining service levels.

He said: "Over the coming weeks, we shall be able to construct the overall design of our new organisation. Each of the directors can now begin to form their section of the new organisation."

The integration is expected to be completed in 18 months. Intermediary business director Ken Wallace said it would be business as usual for the time being, and CGNU would be undertaking a thorough consultation.

Snowball and Wallace will be present at a series of broker roadshows from October 9 to 18. The new directors' names can be found on Insurance Times' website www.insurancetimes.co.uk.
