FCA small

The FCA has reminded companies that they must continue to abide by their obligations under UK law, including any derived by the EU, following the vote to leave the European Union.

The regulator said the rules would apply until the government changes legislation to reflect the vote.

The FCA also said that consumers’ rights and protections, including any derived from EU legislation remain unaffected by the referendum result and will remain unchanged unless the government changes the applicable legislation.

It added that the longer-term impact of the decision to leave the EU would depend in part on the UK’s future relationship with the EU.

The regulator said: “We will work closely with the Government as it confirms the arrangements for the UK’s future relationship with the EU.”
