Claims management company, the Guild Claims Service, has signed a deal with the National Association of Goldsmiths that will see it more than double the size of its jewellery replacement network.

The Guild Claims Service, which is owned by the Helphire Group, specialises in jewellery replacement in the event of a claim.

The deal increases the number of jewellers in its replacement network from 800 to more than 3,000.

Commercial director Jeremy Warren said that the service was based on a valuation database, which registered a replacement cost for items before a claim occurred, ensuring that claims were settled quickly and without dispute.

The extensive network of jewellers enables the company to offer replacement, rather than a cash settlement, in most cases, he said, often at a discount to the insurer.

Chairman of the National Association of Goldsmiths, John Henn said: "Fundamentally, the deal allows our members to work more easily with the insurance industry."

Guild Claims Service managing director Richard Arnott said: "Insurers no longer need to accept a one-size-fits-all solution and can now work seamlessly with over 3,000 jewellers across the UK."

The Guild Claims Service has deals in place to provide four insurers with claims services. Warren said it was currently in pilots with two other insurers. He declined to name the insurers.
