Evans will initially start in November as chairman elect, before taking over the role fully in April 2021

Paul Evans has been named as the non-executive chairman of Allianz Holdings.

Evans will join the Board as chairman elect on 1 November 2020 and will then take over from current chair, Rick Hudson, on his retirement in April 2021. In this role, Evans will also chair Allianz Insurance plc and LV= General Insurance Group.

Allianz chief executive Jon Dye said: “I am delighted that Paul has agreed to join us on the Board of Allianz Holdings. In these times of great uncertainty, challenge and change in our industry, Paul’s extensive knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping to drive Allianz on to even greater success in the future.

“Paul is a highly respected figure in the UK insurance market and has an excellent track record of leading organisations to profitable growth.”

Evans is a Chartered Accountant who spent 13 years with PwC and 17 years at AXA where he held a number of senior roles including group chief executive of AXA UK and group chief executive of AXA Global Life, Savings and Health. 

Evans is also a former chairman of the ABI and currently holds non-executive roles with BUPA and Swiss Re.

Allianz Insurance and LV= General insurance have built remarkably strong, customer-focused franchises, and they can face the future together with great confidence.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
