’He will have a central role in ensuring we maintain a fully optimised operating model across every aspect of our organisation,’ says chief executive

Arch Insurance International has appointed Ketan Motwani as its new UK chief operating officer.

The position will see Motwani take responsibility for overseeing UK functions, including underwriting operations and strategic portfolio management.

He will also work with the wider senior leadership team to support the company’s overall growth strategy.

Motwani will be based in London and report to chief executive Hugh Sturgess.

Sturgess said: “As Arch looks to build on the substantial market success we have achieved in recent years, he will have a central role in ensuring we maintain a fully optimised operating model across every aspect of our organisation.”

Experience

Motwani brings over 20 years of experience in insurance operations and transformation leadership to the role.

He joins Arch from Aon UK, where he was most recently chief operating officer for commercial risk – the role saw him look after service delivery, operations and digital platforms.

Prior to joining Aon, he held senior roles at Deloitte and was focused on insurance strategy, operations and technology.

“Ketan brings an exceptional breadth of expertise to the role and considerable experience in all aspects of operational and performance enhancement,” Sturgess said.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
