Aviva has appointed Chris Whiting as its new head of SME optimisation.

Whiting will be responsible for shaping and delivering Aviva’s digital strategy across the SME business, strengthening broker relationships and continuing to bring new digital propositions to market.
He will report to Rebecca Gambrell, managing director of SME and delegated authorities.
She said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Whiting as our new head of SME optimisation.
“His experience gives him a unique perspective that will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and evolve our SME proposition.”
Experience
Whiting has been at Aviva since 2017, most recently working alongside Dave Martin as business manager for Aviva’s distribution and commercial business.

His promotion supports Aviva’s growth plans for the SME business.
Gambrell said: ”With nine years’ experience at Aviva across distribution, most recently as business manager to the MD commercial lines and chief distribution officer, he brings deep expertise, strong relationships and a brilliant understanding of how we can continue to elevate the SME experience.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
