’This is a very important appointment for Aviva,’ says chief executive
Aviva has appointed Chris Cochrane as its new group chief information officer (CIO).

Cochrane, who currently services as group chief information technology officer at M&G, will take on the role in the summer of 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Prior to his appointment at M&G, he served as CIO at BT Global Services and CIO at Openreach Service Delivery.
Amanda Blanc, chief executive at Aviva, said: ”This is a very important appointment for Aviva. Cochrane is a seasoned, highly experienced CIO who brings a wealth of expertise to the company as we continue to grow and deliver for our customers and for our investors.
“I very much look forward to working with him.”
Cochrane added: ”Aviva is a company I admire hugely and one which is performing strongly.
“I am excited to be joining Blanc and her colleagues and playing my part in helping continue to drive the momentum which the business has across the insurance, wealth and retirement sectors.”
