’He comes with significant underwriting experience and will be a strong fit as IGI continues to build its treaty reinsurance portfolio,’ says chief underwriting officer
International General Insurance (IGI) has appointed Malcolm Barnes as its new head of specialty treaty.

In his new role, Barnes is responsible for building and managing the IGI’s specialty treaty reinsurance business.
He will be based in the firm’s London office at 20 Fenchurch Street.
With over 35 years experience in the London market, Barnes joins IGI from Amlin Syndicate 2001, where he was responsible for the marine treaty reinsurance team.
Prior to that, Barnes held senior roles in specialty reinsurance lines for other Lloyd’s syndicates.
‘A strong fit’
Chris Jarvis, chief underwriting officer at IGI, said: “We are excited to bring Barnes on board as part of our reinsurance team.

“He comes with significant underwriting experience and will be a strong fit as IGI continues to build its treaty reinsurance portfolio. His experience and network will be an asset to IGI as we look to expand specialty treaty within our reinsurance portfolio, with particular focus on marine, energy and terror and political violence.”
