Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) has appointed Andrew Aldwinckle to the role of chief underwriting officer for the international casualty function.

The firm said Aldwinckle’s new London-based role will see him take responsibility for “setting the underwriting strategy and driving the performance and profitable growth of the international casualty portfolio”.
Aldwinckle will join from Axa XL Re, where he has spent the previous 12 years of his career, most recently as head of the European casualty.
Other previous experience includes time spent as a senior underwriter at both reinsurer Aspen Re and Lloyd’s syndicate Ark 4020.

His move to LM Re will be effective from 1 February 2026.

In his new role, Aldwinckle will report directly to Chantal Rodriguez, LM Re’s international chief underwriting officer.
Rodriguez said: “Aldwinckle’s wealth of market experience and proven expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our international casualty capabilities, deliver on our strategic objectives and build on our commitment to clients and brokers across key markets.”

He graduated in 2017 from the University of Manchester with a degree in Geology. He spent the first part of his career working in consulting and tech, spending time at Citibank as a data analyst, before working as an analytics engineer with clients in the retail, technology, manufacturing and financial services sectors.View full Profile
