‘With a robust global platform and a clear commitment to underwriting excellence, LM Re is well-positioned to deliver smart, agile solutions for clients and partners,’ says new appointee

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) has appointed Andrew Aldwinckle to the role of chief underwriting officer for the international casualty function.

The firm said Aldwinckle’s new London-based role will see him take responsibility for “setting the underwriting strategy and driving the performance and profitable growth of the international casualty portfolio”.

Aldwinckle will join from Axa XL Re, where he has spent the previous 12 years of his career, most recently as head of the European casualty.

Other previous experience includes time spent as a senior underwriter at both reinsurer Aspen Re and Lloyd’s syndicate Ark 4020.

Wealth of experience

His move to LM Re will be effective from 1 February 2026.

In his new role, Aldwinckle will report directly to Chantal Rodriguez, LM Re’s international chief underwriting officer.

Rodriguez said: “Aldwinckle’s wealth of market experience and proven expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our international casualty capabilities, deliver on our strategic objectives and build on our commitment to clients and brokers across key markets.”

The new appointee added: “I’m excited to join LM Re and help shape the next chapter of its international casualty underwriting.

“With a robust global platform and a clear commitment to underwriting excellence, LM Re is well-positioned to deliver smart, agile solutions for clients and partners around the world.

“I look forward to collaborating with local teams and cross-line leadership to build on the momentum and drive sustainable growth across key markets.”
