’Atrium is a formidable brand that shines brightly in the Lloyd’s market – there are great opportunities and times ahead,’ says appointee

Lloyd’s insurer Atrium has appointed James Lakin as its new head of outwards reinsurance.

In his new role, Lakin will be responsible for the design and placement of Atrium’s outward reinsurance programmes.

He will ensure the reinsurance strategy remains aligned with Atrium’s risk appetite, capital objectives and long-term profitability.

Atrium’s chief executive John Fowle said: “Atrium is committed to delivering market leading returns to our capital providers and our long-standing partnerships with our reinsurers are key to delivering on that commitment.

”With geopolitical volatility and structural change continuing to shape the market, a disciplined approach to reinsurance, strong partnerships and clear risk focus have never been more essential. I’m pleased to welcome Lakin to Atrium. His expertise will contribute significantly to the group’s continued success.”

‘Great opportunities’ ahead

Lakin joins from MS Amlin, where he served for 12 years in their reinsurance team.

His most recent position was co-lead of outwards reinsurance, which he held since 2024.

Lakin added: “I’m delighted to join Atrium and contribute to their market leading business.
