Neil Garrett, sales director for the UK and Ireland at Verisk, talks about his firm’s entry to the Excellence in Fraud Mitigation category
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the Excellence in Fraud Mitigation category?
We have invested extensive time, resources and the expertise of leading data scientists to develop this innovative product. Digital Media Forensics has enabled insurers to identify suspicious documents and images swiftly, preventing fraud before it escalates.

We are excited to showcase Digital Media Forensics’ latest developments such as the shallow fake and deepfake detection models and continue to provide customers with effective, cutting-edge tools.
By setting a new standard in digital forensics, Digital Media Forensics enables insurers to stay ahead of the fast-paced evolution of fraud schemes.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
We are dedicated to providing insurers with futureproof tools and, with the 3,000% rise in deepfakes this year, our new AI detection model demonstrates this.
Our patented machine learning models assess image pixels and determine the likelihood of splicing manipulation, known as shallow fakes, and AI-generated images, or deepfakes.
Paired with the large amount of data held across multiple Verisk products, we can provide unparalleled insights across the points of quote through to claim.
This data benefits individual customers and also encourages cross-collaboration among insurers, strengthening collective efforts to combat fraudulent activity and anticipate trends in opportunistic and organised crime.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning this award would highlight our dedication to combatting fraud, not only through deep analysis of new fraud tactics but also through our out-of-the-box thinking and development of innovative tools such as Digital Media Forensics.
This award would put a spotlight on the firm’s unwavering drive to provide customers, and the industry overall, with deep insight, forward-thinking tools and results that stay ahead of the fast-evolving fraud landscape.
