1. Why did you put yourselves forward for this category?

Charlie Hopkins (7)

Charlie Hopkins, senior underwriter at Antares Global

I wanted to show that insurance careers can look very different to each other, there’s no pre-destined path to success that everyone must follow.

My early years in the industry were spent in finance roles including my first role at Antares as group and expenses assistant, before transitioning to the business planning team as an analyst.

From there, I moved into the underwriting team, writing business across a number of portfolios and driving new business acquisitions.

This isn’t your typical insurance journey, but it’s one I’m very proud of and grateful to the industry for.

2. What makes your entry stand out, and why should you win the award?

I have had great success across my various roles, delivering significant business growth, transforming underperforming accounts, restructuring commercial relationships with MGAs and demonstrating a consistent ability to adapt products to suit client’s needs.

In my most recent role, I am managing an underwriting team, supporting them to develop sophisticated approaches to underwriting.

Purely for diversity of experience and showcasing what the industry has to offer, I’d like to think my entry has made an impression on the judges.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would be a recognition of both my personal journey and Antares’ commitment to excellence.

My journey through a range of roles at Antares showcases the centrality of talent development to our business strategy.

New entrants to the industry aren’t just taught how to perform their role at Antares, they’re tutored into being a proactive and independent professional, able to rise to any challenge they encounter.
