’Her subject matter expertise and extensive network within the London insurance market will undoubtedly help Recorder to accelerate its mission of delivering more commercial insurance products via APIs,’ says co-founder

Insurtech Recorder has appointed Tanja Deane in the newly created role of head of insurance, to support its expansion plans.

In this position – effective from July 2024 – Deane will join the company’s senior leadership team and help the insurtech deliver more commercial insurance products through application programming interfaces (APIs).

Matt Hicks, co-founder of Recorder, told Insurance Times: “Recorder has doubled its headcount in the last few months to keep up with the strong demand we are experiencing.

“[Deane’s] subject matter expertise and extensive network within the London insurance market will undoubtedly help Recorder to accelerate its mission of delivering more commercial insurance products via APIs.”

Recorder, which provides broker management software, is currently developing direct API integrations and will be releasing its quote and bind product to brokers in September.

Experience

Previously, Deane worked for around four years at specialist cyber insurance provider CFC Underwriting as a project leader. Other roles she held during her tenure at CFC include product team leader and transactional liability underwriter.

Hicks said Deane brings a ”wealth of relevant experience” to Recorder, thanks to her prior roles at CFC, Axis Capital, CNA Hardy, Xchanging and Munich Re.

Deane added: “I’m excited to be joining a company where continuous innovation is a foundational pillar in building a viable solution for brokers and underwriters when placing risks.

”Having worked in the market for over 10 years, I’ve experienced firsthand the struggles companies have to modernise the insurance journey and Recorder’s solution has already been proven to help carriers and brokers navigate these challenges.”

Recorder unveiled its artificial intelligence (AI) powered commercial broking platform at the Biba Conference in May this year – this aims to support brokers’ digital transformation projects.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
