The hire brings over 15 years of insurance industry experience to the role

Aventum Group’s managing general agent (MGA) Rokstone has appointed Travis Bowles as its new head of claims.

Rokstone said the move signalled a “step change” for the firm as it looks to expand in the speciality insurance space.

It felt that having a “efficent” claims function to support this move was ”vital” to meet the expectations of first division carriers and broker partners.

The MGA snapped up Bowels due to his ”strong decision-making capabilities and ability to spot new opportunities” for the end-to-end claims experience.

Rokstone managing director Ian Anson said that “it’s a real coup for our business to have attracted someone of this calibre to lead the next evolution of our claims function”.

“As our global expansion continues at pace, we need a claims function that matches our reputation for agility and performance,” he added.

“With Travis taking the lead, we will set the bar for excellence when it comes to handling speciality claims.”

Experience

Bowles, who will be based in London, joins Rokstone from speciality insurance and reinsurance firm Axis Capital.

At Axis, he served as international head of claims for five years and prior to that, he spent over 14 years at global speciality insurer and reinsurer Amlin.

He first served as AUL head of legal and compliance, before being promoted to director of risk legal and compliance and then head of property and casualty UK claims.

Bowles began his career as a trainee solicitor at national law firm Moray and Agnew in 1999.

The appointee said it had been an “ambition” of his to “work for an MGA for some time”.

“None come more highly regarded than Rokstone,” he added.

“I thrive on creating and driving change and this is a business that has absolutely no resistance when it comes to investing in transformation.

“Rokstone successfully achieves a perfect balance between entrepreneurialism and big business sophistication.

“Great people and a great culture are what inspire you go to work every day – Rokstone has both in abundance.”

Anson added: “We’re delighted to welcome Travis to the team.”
