‘The appointment of a seasoned professional will significantly strengthen Targa Telematics’ offering and capabilities in the insurance segment,’ says director

Targa Telematics has announced Adam Gooch as its new director of insurance in the UK, effective immediately.

The software company has tasked Gooch with overseeing its insurtech offering as it attempts to scale its UK business, partly in response to growing demand for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) data.

The shift towards OEM data comes as more car manufacturers produce vehicles with factory-installed sensors and onboard systems, rather than relying on data collected by aftermarket devices.

Targa Telematics say this data is useful “not only for connected insurance purposes, but also across wider car, van and commercial vehicle markets” and that its platform leverages the data to produce “detailed driving-based risk profiles, accident reconstructions, streamlined claims-management tools and effective anti-fraud systems”.

The firm said Gooch – whose 20 years’ experience in the insurance sector includes senior positions at telematics providers, insurtechs and insurer Direct Line Group – has a “track record of launching products, driving growth and performance while forging long-term partnerships with clients”.

Data-driven solutions

Chris Horbowyj, UK commercial director at Targa Telematics, said: “As insurers and fleet operators face increasing pressure to control costs, protect customer data and enhance efficiency, the need for innovative, data-driven solutions has never been higher.

“The appointment of a seasoned professional like Gooch will significantly strengthen Targa Telematics’ offering and capabilities in the insurance segment. His deep market knowledge, combined with a relentless commitment to results, will be instrumental in further elevating our strategy and expanding our footprint in the growing UK insurance market.”

The new appointee added: “With its global presence, state-of-the-art technology and industry-leading expertise, Targa Telematics is ideally placed to lead the next chapter in the insurtech sector and bring significant advantages from merging trends and learnings from Europe to the UK.

“I am thrilled to join the company at such a pivotal moment and look forward to building on its numerous strengths to help insurers unlock the full potential of OEM and telematics-enabled insurance.”
