2011’s riskiest driver clocked at 152mph

The number of drivers breaking the speed limit rose by 5.8% in 2011, according to LV= research.

The insurer compiled police statistics and found that there were 955,459 speeding cases in 2011, up from 899,934 in 2010, according to The Daily Telegraph.

LV= also found that 2011’s fastest speeding driver was clocked at 152mph in Surrey. The 2010 record was 144mph in the Avon and Somerset police area.

LV= general insurance managing director John O’Roarke said: “The police data shows that more speeding motorists are being caught each year and drivers should take care to know their limits to avoid a fine, penalty points or worse.”

A survey by the insurer found that 71% of motorists failed a test on the various speed limits on Britain’s roads.
