Oval chief executive Phillip Hodson has appointed Oliver Stocken as chairman.

Stocken's non-executive roles include deputy chairman of 3i and non-executive directorships at Standard Chartered and retail group GUS.

Hodson said: “Oliver's financial services experience and outstanding reputation show how far we have come.”

The Oval appointment marks a return to the insurance sector for Stocken. A former Lloyd's name, Stocken was last on the board of an insurance company in 1996 as a non-executive director at SBJ.

“This is an exciting time for the sector,” said Stocken. “I know from my own involvement with corporates just how important risk management is.

“Oval is building a very impressive track record in an area of growing demand. This is an exciting company to be a part of – at an important stage in its development.”
